Poem – invaluable Deposits

This was my poem which I recited in the open mike session of the Nature Island Literary Festival and Book Fair. The crowd shouted out “more” after I had finished read it and a few people came up to me and spoke of how it moved them and wanted to know who was the lucky fellow! Afterwards, the workshop leader Professor Morris declared “it works”. He was only tempted to tweak one word.

invaluable Deposits

i Do believe the river of life

impishly Drew a gem of a man to my banks

instantly Depositing huge mounds of sensuous joy, and

incessant Drops of tenderness that soften my weary heart.

Martha Cuffy, 10 July 08

PS. If you want a more in the body experience, listen to this as the spoken word – Invaluable Deposits – download to your mp3 or ipod.
